The latest installment in the Achilles series, Legends Untold, has finally arrived on Apple devices, and fans of action-RPGs are eager to dive into its world of epic battles and mythical creatures. But does this game live up to its predecessors' standards?

Upon entering the prologue, it becomes apparent that combat encounters will be simplified, much like in Soulslikes. However, as soon as you reach Greece, you'll find yourself easily outscaling your enemies and grinding hordes with a single swipe – a gameplay mechanic reminiscent of Diablo.

While a predictable plot may not necessarily be a bad thing, Achilles Legends Untold relies heavily on multiple twists throughout the story. Unfortunately, these attempts at surprise fall flat, resulting in an expositional snooze-fest that detracts from the overall experience.

The writing begins strong, introducing us to the world of Legends Untold with a fascinating twist. However, as the plot progresses, it becomes increasingly predictable and loses its luster. One notable exception is the voice acting, particularly the protagonist Achilles's Greek accent, which adds a touch of authenticity to the game.

On the other hand, some of the voiceovers lack quality, with the protagonist's mumbling at times being jarring. It seems that while the game has made an effort to include authentic accents, not all voice actors have been given equal attention.

Despite its budget constraints, Achilles Legends Untold presents itself well, drawing inspiration from the movie and immersing players in its world of ancient Greece. With simplified combat and predictable plot twists, this game feels more like a Diablo clone than a true Soulslike experience. Nonetheless, fans of action-RPGs may still find enjoyment in its epic battles and mythical creatures.
